Now you can earn rewards for downloading things from Google Play. Google brought its Google Play Points program to the United States this week, a free program that allows you to earn points for purchases you make using Google Play that can then be redeemed for discounts and special items in games like Candy Crush Saga and Pokémon GO or for credit toward movies, games, or apps.

To use Play Points you first have to sign up. To do that launch Google Play on your mobile device. Chances are good you’ll get a pop-up for the program promoting you to sign up. If you don’t, then just tap the menu within Google Play and select “Play Points.”

Points are earned on all purchases through Google Play. So everything from renting a movie to buying a book or game counts. Google Play Points has four levels, from Bronze to Platinum. Your level depends on how many points you’ve collected, and higher levels have perks such as weekly prizes. You can also use points to make a donation to a rotating list of nonprofits including Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders.

The amount of points you earn depends on your spending tier. While bronze users will only earn 1 point per dollar spent, platinum users can get 1.4 points per dollar instead.

Unless you’re a big spender, chances are good you’re going to be waiting a bit to actually redeem these rewards. A $2 reward toward Angry Birds Dream Blast, for instance, will cost 100 points.

All that said, if you’re an Android user it makes sense to sign up so all those dollars you do spend get counted toward that eventual reward.
