Instead their biggest concerns are data breaches (45%) followed by compliance (24%), phishing (12%), and ransomware (11%), according research from CareersinCyber.com.
Businesses should be more concerned about the dangers of the dark web, however, according to Simon Wright, director of CareersinCyber.
“I believe there is a case for saying many businesses have not caught up with the cyber realities of 2019 and potential dangers to businesses as a result of activity on the Dark Web. If you speak to technology experts and specialist software providers who are monitoring the Dark Web daily to help businesses manage data breach threats, they impress that stolen business data is now regarded as huge collateral in the dark web marketplace, “ said Wright.
The research also showed that 87% of respondents believed in-house cyber and data privacy teams could require the external support of industry and government. Also, 21% want the government to introduce more stringent fines, legislation and or regulation.
